Acronis Access 7 claims secure file sync share for all businesses

Employees using cloud-only file sharing solutions not sanctioned by IT introduce security risks to the company. Data protection vendor Acronis claims that its new Access 7 client software addresses the requirements for easy-to-use file, sync and share solution of SMBs while meeting the risk adverse culture of large enterprises.

Bur rather than a single solution-fits-all product, Acronis has two versions of Access 7 – one for SMBs and a separate edition for larger enterprises.

For SMBs, Access 7 is an easy to use mobile file access, sync and share solution for companies to buy, use and administer. It allows employees to remain productive and efficient while travelling, enabling them to access and edit company documents without data leakage risk, easily share updated financial spreadsheets or presentations with their colleagues, and safely share content with customers, partners or prospects.

“Acronis Access 7 serves as a secure alternative to cloud solutions and allows sensitive business content to remain on premises and be shared under IT control,” said Terri McClure, ESG Senior Analyst. “And SMB organizations that can’t afford more in-depth and complex MDM capabilities will appreciate having built-in core functionality.”

Larger enterprises can consider Acronis Access Advanced 7 which retains the same ease of use features as its SMB version while providing IT with complete control over the company’s data and files through Active Directory integration for seamless user management, highly granular management capabilities for security policies and content control and compliance, audit logs, certified encryption and enhanced authentication. It offers users ability to edit Microsoft Office documents and annotate PDF files. It integrates seamlessly with leading mobile device management (MDM) solutions.

Acronis is not the only game in town though. The Gartner Magic Quadrant lists out the major players in the crowded playing field.
