Data Protection vendor, StorageCraft, has launched a cross-platform version of backup and disaster recovery (DR) offering, ShadowProtect SPX. Now able to support Windows and Linux environments, including physical and virtual environments, under one package, the solution offers StorageCraft’s trademark fast, flexible and reliable backup and DR.

SPX is powered by the technology that has made the ShadowProtect software family a name in backup and DR and includes a set of features built based on feedback from IT administrators. It allows for quick and efficient sector-level backup of Windows and Linux systems and enables reliable recovery within minutes to the original hardware, to new hardware or to a VM hosted on the same or a different hypervisor. SPX leverages Volume Shadow Copy Service to ensure solid backups and a proprietary kernel-level snapshot driver to ensure fast backups of Windows systems. For Linux systems, SPX has a new kernel-level driver to ensure a quick and solid backup.
 
SPX backups are supported across the company's Recover-Ability solution set, including: ImageManager, ShadowControl (version 3.0 or newer) and company's Cloud Services.
