CDS to support migrating legacy SANs to Azure

Keywords:

Prior to cloud storage, enterprises built massive networked storage infrastructure in the form of storage area networks and networked attached storage. Unfortunately as demand for elasticity in the face of digital and IoT deployments continue, enterprises are realizing that SANs or NAS may be outliving their usefulness. However, a challenge for many is how to economically move on-premise data stored on networked storage into the cloud.

Cirrus Data Solutions (CDS) says it now supports legacy SAN migration to Microsoft Azure, making it easy for enterprises to migrate to Azure services, Microsoft’s cloud computing platform.

The Data Migration Server (DMS) provides a simple solution that addresses large-scale migration projects under tight deadlines. DMS eliminates both the need for downtime and the load placed on virtual machines associated with migrating from their legacy locations and can be throttled so that there is no effect on production.

The software appliance supports all types of data migration schemes including: local storage refresh, local to remote (data center move), legacy to cloud (physical to virtual), cloud to cloud, cloud to data center, and other common storage management practices.
